Split Marble Collection

Split Marble Collection is inspired by the sawing procedure in the marble processing factory. Being incised artificially, the retaining raw rims of stone pieces greatly contrast with the smooth profile. The design regards the roughness as the distinguishing feature and aims to keep it in the furniture design. The even cuts on the marble are used as external appearances while rough sides are placed inward, retaining their original marble surface.

By juxtaposing the marble pieces at gradually varying sizes, the result is a collection of a table and a stool with irregular edges beneath. The layered shape creates an image of a deep cavern. Split Marble Collection presents the aesthetic of dissonance through its stiff outlines together with the presence of fragments.
